July 06 Bye Bye Stevie
Work: Just got back from another flying visit to the Microsoft Product Feedback centre (it’s a web site so don’t think that I’ve been Hightailing it to Reading) and submitted another bug in VS2005. Not a showstopper but one that wasted me about an hour last thing this afternoon when I really couldn’t be bothered to battle with something that should just work. It turned out , so I’ve just found out, that it wasn’t me as I have just tried it on my own machine with VS2003 and it works OK. So here is the scenario:- I add a ListView control to a form and wire it up to an ImageList control. Then in my code I set it’s View property to be Details during the forms load. None of the images are displayed??? I tried various combinations and nne of them displayed the images. As it turned out the default view when you plop the control on the form is Large Icons. When this property is set it will not display any icons in the other views when you change it programmatically. Set it to another type of view in the designer and Hey-Presto it works. To my mind that’s a bug so I’ve hit them with it. You view the progress of this bug at http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/productfeedback/viewfeedback.aspx?feedbackid=41f86fd5-5d5a-4338-b7f8-6c499ab01aa7 watch them tell me it’s by design and I’m the total loser for even trying to do what I did and If I ever go near Visual Studio 2005 again they will pluck all the hairs out of my legs with a pair of Mole Grips before leaving me to rot in eternal hell or even worse the centre of Milton Keynes.
Rest: That’s enough bug tracking for one night I feel, I’m going to have another blast of Half life now. I got really bored with it and couldn’t get past a stupidly difficult bit. About a week ago I cheated and went in as God mode and got past this level, yeah don’t mess with me you pixellated purveyors of pain. How the hell anybody could ever do it is beyond me. Now that I’m past that I might have another go now just to see if there is any change in the game-play as it got a bit boring. I miss the feeling I got when playing Far Cry when you go over a hill and just say Wow at the scenery. Roll on Call of Duty 2 also I wish they’d hurry up, bloody developers always slacking off.
Play: So Steven Gerard is to leave Liverpool then. Says it’s not the money, although with an offer of 100 grand a week on the table he may be telling the truth there. He has been reported as saying it’ because he wants to win things, champions league not good enough then. There is obviously something going on behind the scenes and I genuinely belive that he doesn’t want to bad-mouth the club. I’ve had a tip off that he may be coming to Northampton, our kits nearly the same colour and he wouldn’t have to play against his old team. I’ve not had any confirmation though so It may not be true…… PS. London got the Olympics 2012...well they get everything don't they. Even tried to steal the Formula 1 from us. pah Comments (2)
